Blackhurst Highland Beef

Blackhurst Farm is a family run farm set in the heart of the Shropshire Hills AONB. Our herd of Highland Cows graze the diverse rich habitat on and around the Lawley Hill, helping us to manage this rough pasture which they thrive on.
All our calves stay with their mothers until they are weaned at approximately 9 months old. They are then left for 2-3 years to grow and develop slowly producing beef with superior eating quality and flavour. Once slaughtered the meat is hung on the bone for approximately 23 days.
Beef boxes are sold to order, via a regular box scheme and are collected directly from the farm. Available in two sizes - Large Box £130 and Small Box £70. At Black Orchard Large Blacks we are passionate about our wonderful rare breed outdoor pigs, and producing superb pork and sausages for our customers.
Large Blacks are amongst the rarest native pigs, and we keep the rarest lines in order to support the breed. Our pigs live outside in arks made from recycled plastic and are fed locally grown, soy-free feed. They all receive individual attention and our breeding pigs know their names and come to call.

Our pride and joy are our herd of pedigree Dexter cows, which we have been breeding for over 40 years. We have a flock of 300 sheep which we breed from to produce our lamb, hogget and mutton. Our family farm is run by father-daughter duo Hugh and Hermione. Our organic, regenerative, 100% pasture-fed heritage Aberdeen Angus X Red Devon cattle are mob grazed across historic permanent pastures and diverse herbal leys on the Quantock Hills. We run a closed herd, which means all of our cattle were born on the farm. They are handled regularly but gently, living a very happy, healthy and low stress life.
We use a small, family run abattoir who also butcher our beef. Our animals are hung for three weeks, to allow the flavour to develop.

In 1793 Isaac Alden founded Aldens Butchers in Oxford. His great-grandson, Leonard, bought Hollands Farm in 1922. Still run by the same family, we have been supplying beef to the business ever since.
Our cattle are reared on what is the opposite to an “intensive” system. They graze on ancient pastures alongside the river Thame for up to 8 months of the year and live in modern, purpose-built barns during the winter. Home-grown hay, grass silage, straw, barley and pulses make up their diet during this period.
Our beef is aged for a minimum of 28 days at Aldens in temperature and humidity-controlled rooms. It is then processed by Aldens’ Master Butchers into the individual joints you will see in our boxes, which can be ordered direct from our website.

Our beef comes from our pure bred Limousin cattle, which are out at grass all spring, summer and autumn. In the winter the cattle are brought inside where they are fed home-grown grass and clover silage and barley allowing them to be reared in a stress-free traditional manner. Limousin beef is known for its outstanding lean, tender meat, low in saturated fats.
All of our pigs live in the woodland surrounding the farm. This is the most natural environment for them as they spend their days rooting and wallowing, doing just what a pig should do. We rear our pigs slowly and take them much older than commercial breeders, which adds to their excellent flavour that has been likened to “old fashioned pork, how it used to taste.”

We are Richard and Laila Carruthers. We run a herd of Wagyu beef from cattle born and raised on our farm, in the fells between Haweswater and Shap. The cattle are grazed in paddocks on herbal leys for much of the year and none of the beef sold comes from animals that have ever been given antibiotics.
The Wagyu cattle are slaughtered at Kendall and the beef is prepared by local butchers, Deer & Dexter, near Penrith. They also produce pork and lamb from their own pigs and sheep.

The Carr family have farmed at Lee Gate since 1927 and have a traditional breed herd of over 200 cows including, Shorthorns, Longhorns, Highlands, Herefords, Belted Galloways, Whitebred Shorthorns and Irish moils. All of these native breed cattle help to graze and maintain the land as it has been for generations before and can be into the future.
The farm is situated on the limestone plateau above village of Malham, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We are part of a higher level environmental scheme and encompass a site of special scientific interest due to the rich variety of rare flora and angelica found on our ground and we believe that this gives our beef a fuller and richer flavour compared to elsewhere.
We work in partnership with a small family run abattoir and local butcher who use traditional methods of dry aging and cutting to ensure our end product is the best it can be. We supply mixed beef boxes nationwide of differing values to match every budget.

We are a small family run farm, set in the beautiful countryside of Ashleworth in Gloucestershire. My husband and I with the help and support of my mum, run the farm alongside our children Harriet, Chloe and Charlie.
We are a small farming business that takes pride in rearing free range, healthly, happy livestock and associated produce.
We currently run 120 breeding ewes that we lamb in January/February each year. We have a growing herd of Dexter cattle (currently at 44) that run as a suckler herd with our Bull, Mr Howell. We have a Sow and a Boar (Cherry and Shane) as well as numerous chickens (including Ghengis the Cockerel!) and ducks that free range across the farm.

Lucie's Lambs is a small family run partnership, producing high end quality lamb boxes. We pride ourselves on our animal welfare and our attention to detail to produce a high quality lamb box to put straight in your oven or freezer.
We rear pedigree Romney sheep, which are our local native breed, purely off grass to make a beautifully marbled carcass. Romney sheep were once bred for their wool before it was discovered that they had wonderful carcasses for meat. The price of wool continues to decline, but that doesn't stop us finding methods to utilise this beautiful product. We currently are making lamb skin rugs and are looking to process the sheared wool.
We are now able to ship our boxes nationwide and no order is too small. All our packaging is recyclable, and we use WoolCool insulation to keep our boxes frozen for 48hrs, this ensures that your box will always get to you in perfect condition.

George Magness and his partner, Catrina, specialise in producing high quality meat from animals reared to high welfare standards. These include woodland reared pork from Saddleback and Landrace pigs, free range turkeys and beef from cattle grazed in our fields.
The family have been running the farm in north-west Essex since 1922 and have historically grown crops on the farm. But they are now starting to introduce livestock back onto the farm, to develop a mixed farming system.
George started his career in the meat industry at Smithfield Market as a salesman and he is now using his butchery knowledge and interest in farm livestock to bring new enterprises to the farm.

Our Easycare sheep are the ultimate fleece shedding, low maintenance, prime lamb sheep breed. The shed fleece rapidly decomposes as a natural soil conditioner.

We produce pork, bacon, ham and sausages in our own carbon neutral butchery from pigs bred and reared on our mixed farm in the beautiful Moss Valley in North East Derbyshire.
The family has lived and farmed here for over a hundred years and the farm is now run by the fourth generation. Moss Valley Fine Meats is a butchery that offers award winning pork, sausages and bacon. There are about 220 Sows kept at Povey. The majority of the sows are Large White cross Landrace then crossed with Duroc. The type of pig produced from these breeds makes the meat succulent and tender. We are proud that our antibiotic usage is extremely low, and pigs used in the butchery are antibiotic reared free.

Christmas time is a very busy time at Nether Haugh Farm, we have been supplying farm fresh turkeys since 1929 and the practices used today remain true to traditional methods.

We are 3rd generation farmers on a small tenant farm near Moreton in Marsh. We took over the farm in 2002 and since then have installed a cutting room and farm shop so that we can offer local people a chance to buy local and know where their food is produced.
Sustainability is something we really care about at Old Farm, we believe that by following traditional farming methods we can help in the fight against climate change. Our lamb (Welsh mule x Charolais), beef (Hereford) and pork (Glamrock - a cross between Gloucestershire Old Spots, Hampshire, Tamworth & Duroc) is born and reared at Old Farm. We process and package the meat at the farm making award winning sausages and dry cured bacon.

In the 90's we removed most of the livestock from our farm. I then spent a number of years in Australia as an agronomist and when I came back home I wanted to reintroduce livestock to the farm, particularly into the arable rotation.
Today we are a mixed farm and we have 35 acres of solar panels, which we graze the ewes under. They happily lamb under the panels in spring, then the lambs graze their way around the farms permanent pastures and the ewes and lambs that are left, then graze cover crops in the new year.
We sell half or whole lambs and they’re all slaughtered, butchered and vac packed by Westcountry Premium Venison, less than an hour from our farm.

Seb has a herd of around 50 pigs which are outdoor reared and offers pork and sausages for sale when available. They are butchered in nearby Dorchester and sold to local customers.

We aim to produce the worlds tastiest beef right here in beautiful Snowdonia.
We care passionately for both welfare and environment, using locally sourced grain from only 4 miles away to feed our stock, and our own forage. We work within our county as much as possible using a local family run abattoir and nearby family run butcher.
Our cattle are slow growing on grass for around 3 years, in an area of the UK that can’t grow other crops effectively. Wagyu beef contains a high percentage of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid with its intense marbling, improving the ratio of monounsaturated fats.

Springfield Farm is run by farmer Mark Collins who produces great tasting beef, lamb and pork from animals born and reared on the farm.
Beef comes from a herd of Piemontese cattle. The breed originated from the region of Piedmont in northwest Italy.
Pork, sausages and bacon are produced from native breed Gloucester Old Spot x Tamworth pigs.
A new butchers shop and processing plant is now being built on the farm, which will enable the farm to supply many more cuts of meat, all from animals bred, reared and packed on site.

Matt Davey is a first time farmer, rearing rare breed livestock and marketing high welfare pork and lamb products in North Norfolk.
His focus is on rearing high welfare rare breed pork in woodland on the farm. He is starting to breed his own British Saddleback pigs in an attempt to help conserve this beautiful native breed.
Animals are butchered locally in North Walsham to produce a variety of pork cuts, plus chops, steaks, joints and sausages, plus 1/4 and 1/2 pig meat boxes. Meat can be collected, delivered locally free of charge, or delivered by courier nationally.
Matt also runs a small flock of Norfolk Horn sheep, which are native to East Anglia. Lamb and hoggest will be available from summer 2022.

Traed Moch is a small herd of Welsh pigs based on the outskirts of Pontsian in west Wales.

We produce slow-grown lamb from a flock of Shropshire sheep, one of the oldest breeds in the country. They are born and reared on our farm, in the South West Peak District.
The sheep are only given feed extra IF the season and the animal requires it - but most of our lamb is reared just on grass. Our lamb/hogget is typically 9 -12 months or more old and is only available seasonally. Any lamb purchased really helps support this traditional special breed of sheep

West Country Premium Venison

Pip and Matt Smith launched Westcountry Premium Venison, in December 2019 from their successful family farm near Launceston.
The farm has been in Pip’s family since 1703 and the couple took over the running of it together from her parents in 2014 with a flock of around 1100 sheep. Trefranck Farm sits on the edge of the moor high on the North Cornish hills and is home to 700 Red Deer and 1000 Romney Sheep, on a pasture focused diet with mixed herbal lays and rotational grazing methods.

Wildberry Farm is a 350 acre fourth generation farm, run by JJ & Laura. It’s a family affair with our goat whisperer’ Hattie and chief of everything tractor-related Freddie, we share a real passion for farming and livestock.
Our Boer goat herd started in spring 2020 and has since expanded to 100 plus breeding does. Our goats are free range and grass fed. We keep our inputs to a minimum and give welfare the highest regard.
We rear all our kids to 40kg by about 8 months old. We love keeping things local, but we can supply restaurants and butchers all around the country.
